Hannah Stone

 

Photograph: Hannah StoneWelsh harpist Hannah Stone is currently the Official Harpist to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales. She studied harp with Meinir Heulyn, former Principal Harp of Welsh National Opera before moving to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, where she studied with Imogen Barford, gaining B.Mus and M.Mus degrees. As part of her Masters degree, she accepted an Erasmus Exchange place at the Universitat Mozarteum, Salzburg, to study with Professor Helga Storck.

During her time at the Guildhall Hannah was selected to represent the Guildhall School in collaboration with the Academies Festival Orchestra, Singapore. This project culminated in an opening gala performance for the Singapore Sun Festival at the Esplanade Theatre with Dame Kiri te Kanawa.
 
In September 2010 Hannah returned to Wales to further her studies with Caryl Thomas at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, thanks to the generous support of the Victor Salvi Scholarship. She graduated in 2012.

A National and International Eisteddfod winner, Hannah was also a major prize winner at the International Harp Competition in Caernarfon, the Camac Harp Competition in London and the Franz Joseph Reinl Competition in Vienna.

In 2010 Hannah was appointed principal harpist with the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra touring Europe throughout the summer and working with many distinguished artists including baritone Thomas Hampson.

Hannah has performed at many notable venues including the Barbican Centre, LSO St Luke’s, St John’s Smith Square, the Museum of London, St David’s Hall and the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. Recent appearances include the World Premiere of ‘St Asaph’s Dance’ by Karl Jenkins at the North Wales International Music Festival and recitals in Italy for Salvi.

Hannah is proud to have been selected for Yehudi Menuhin’s Live Music Now scheme both as a soloist and as part of the La Mer Trio with flautist Renate Sokolovska and viola player, Maja Wegrzynowska and has given over 50 performances as part of the scheme in Wales.
 
Hannah has performed on several occasions for members of the Royal Family including performances during the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee tour of Wales.
