Claire Jones
Following her appointment as Official Harpist to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in 2007, Claire went on to achieve a 1st Class honors degree from London's Royal college of Music and graduated as an M.A.scholar from the Royal Academy of Music (2009). She made her debut concerto appearance with the English Chamber Orchestra in 2008 and has performed concerti with numerous other ensembles and orchestras including the Philharmonia Orchestra, the European Union Chamber Orchestra, the Ulster Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Academy of Music Soloists and the Welsh Symphonia Orchestra. Claire has also performed as a guest soloist with Maestro Gergiev and the Marinsky Theatre Ballet.
In 2010, Claire performed the world premiere of a Royal commission - the Highgrove Suite, with the Philharmonia Orchestra in the presence of HRH the Prince of Wales and has since released the recording on the Classic FM label. She also recorded an additional six solo tracks for the disc, which reached the top of the classical charts. On November 4th this year, Claire launched her new concerto album at Cadogan Hall, London with the English Chamber Orchestra. The new recording of Harp Concertos which includes The Mozart Flute and Harp, Debussy Dances and the Gliere which has rarely been recorded. It has been released by Signum Classics. It was awarded CD of the week on Classic FM John Brunning's drive-time programme, and has since been requested and played almost daily on Classic FM. Claire has also featured as a soloist this year on a CD released with the National Youth Choir of Scotland, which features the famous Ceremony of Carols by Britten, again released by Signum Classics.
Having appeared regularly on many major TV and radio networks including GMTV,BBC, Classic FM Radio, and Radio 3, she recently featured on the BBC2 documentary about the Highgrove Suite presented by Alan Titchmarch. Claire has also attracted much National media attention with articles appearing inside the Daily Mail, The Independent, The Times, The Guardian, Metro, The Sun, Hello Magazine, Classic FM Magazine, BBC Music Magazine, and Gramophone. Claire was recently a featured artist in Classic FM Magazine, and is also seen very regularly on various programmes on the Welsh Television network - S4C.
Notable artist collaborations include Bryn Terfel, Alfie Bow, Julian Lloyd Webber, William Bennett OBE, Owain Arwel Hughes, as well as being a soloist alongside Joshua Bell and Steven Isselis on a recent exclusive Mediterranean music cruise with the English Chamber Orchestra.
In 2011, Claire will perform a concerto under the baton of Sir Neville Mariner in St Martins in the Fields, and looks forward to various recitals in the UK and America.
